Bangalore, India
Bangalore is India’s high-tech city, home to the world’s largest tech companies, all drawn to the city as their bridgehead in Asia. India’s second fastest growing city, Bangalore was once known as the city of gardens. Today it is the city of screens.
Our heroes have busted out from behind their screens, partnering with the local government and local citizens to create the first composting parks in the city. They have been planting local vegetables and herbs as well to support food security in vulnerable communities around the park.
Bangalore is a Take-Off Team
A Take-Off Team has been going for several months and has an established track record.

News & Updates
Our team is in the process of leasing five acres of land. They have established a partnership with a start-up electric vehicle company, who are designing a custom vehicle for the collection of food waste. The team is also building partnerships with local waste collection non-profits, widening their mission to include tackling the effects of the climate crisis.
Finally, the team will be building and testing a sensor network which will stream real-time environmental data to the cloud. This will then be rolled out to all other Gigatonne Teams.
The team will be processing approximately 50,000 kgs of organic waste a month. This will result in emissions reductions of 600 tonnes of CO2e over 6 months.
(That’s equivalent to what about 710 acres of forest will absorb in a year or what would be emitted by 60,000 gallons of diesel.)
