Irbid, Jordan
Jordan is one of the oldest kingdoms in the world, hosting a young population. It is food-deficient and extremely vulnerable to the effects of climate change.
Ecosoilers, a passionate team from a rural community in the north west of Jordan called Irbid, is composting animal waste in order to mitigate climate change.
Our team is made of students, farmers, activists and professionals.
The team noticed that chicken farms in rural areas of Irbid do not abide by environmentally sound practices. Most manure is dumped and left to decompose in open piles. This is true in most of Jordan.
This approach has a large potential to be scaled up throughout Jordan. Establishing better composting practices and working with rural women, chicken farmers, and refugees in their community, our heroes plan to establish community gardens, using the compost to enhance the soil.
A circular economy is thus born, while contributing to food security for those in need in their community – where poverty, unemployment, and food insecurity have increased since Covid-19.

News & Updates
Starting in April our team in Irbid will be testing out an integrated prototype that will reduce emissions and provide food for the most vulnerable. We are hoping to build in renewable energy sources from biogas and solar.
