Meet Our Team from

Vizag, India

Located on India’s eastern coast, on the Bay of Bengal, Vizag – or Visakhapatnam – is one of India’s industrial engines.

A port town, home to various heavy industries, it is the ninth largest contributor to India’s gross domestic product. Being a coastal town and an industrial hub, Vizag is vulnerable to the effects of climate change. It is therefore also well positioned to be a beacon for responding to the crisis.

Historically blue-collar workers, our heroes are a local sports team.

We’ve helped them launch an innovative waste management business. Employing young people to collect food waste, compost, grow and give away fresh food…they’re supporting the most vulnerable in their communities.

News & Updates

Vizag has leased 6 acres of land, for Level 4 in April 2022.

The team purchased 3 e-auto rickshaws with carriers to support their work. The entire process of collecting, transporting, processing and
composting waste is done via zero emissions transport network.

The team has also deployed 3 biogas units. Currently, tests are being run to understand how comfortable, efficient & sustainable they are for
people to use.

The team began L4 in the last week of August 2022. They are processing approximately 100,000 kgs of organic waste a month, employing a core team of 45, as well as 60 rickshaw drivers, while providing benefits to 1000 vulnerable people in their community.

This will result in emissions reductions of 600 tonnes of CO2e over 6 months.
